Equipment Check
(Materials you will need to supply for this investigation)
3 potted plants | Kitchen scale | Measuring cup | Laptop or desktop
The Investigation
Three plants,
three very
different fates.
It is, in a sense, an attempt to
listen to something that does
not speak.
Field note
Unexpected results are not failure.
A lucky guess is still a guess.
Plants are not passive. They are remarkably strategic, though they carry
out their plans so slowly that most people never notice. They adjust the
colour of their leaves. They close tiny openings to conserve water. They
push their roots deeper, searching for what little moisture remains.
In this investigation you will place three plants under three different
strategies. One lives by the calendar. One is ignored until it begins to wilt.
The third is watered by a model you train yourself, using the
measurements you collect.
You will record what happens, build a small machine learning model from
your own data, and then decide what the results actually mean. The
experiment ends. The questions do not.

Inside the guide

What it leaves behind

What arrives
The printed guide, the notebook link,
and a data sheet for your own
measurements.

What you build
A working model trained on evidence
you gathered yourself, not on someone
else's dataset.

What stays open
The experiment ends. The questions do
not.

Roots of Resilience
How plants adapt, survive, and thrive
without ever leaving the ground.
Begin
Enough to begin. Keep Records. Stay Curious
You do not need everything figured out before you start.
